That’s why we’ve established The Rowan Community Guarantee: five commitments we make to every community where we’re fortunate enough to build.
1. REVEAL
Trust is earned through transparency.
Starting today, Rowan does not require local governments to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) related to our projects. We will maintain a public project website with key documents, updates, and contact information. We will hold public meetings before we begin construction and provide clear answers to community questions. And we will share information throughout development, construction, and operations. Residents will always know where to find information, who to contact, and what is happening with our project.
2. REPLENISH
Economic growth should strengthen, not strain, local water resources.
In water stressed regions, we are committed to making Rowan campuses water positive by developing site-specific strategies that volumetrically benefit the watershed more than our facilities consume. We will invest in sustainable water sources, conservation efforts, and replenishment projects while prioritizing advanced cooling systems and other water-efficient technologies that reduce our demand. We will work with our hyperscale partners to measure, track, and report our progress, and our approach will align with leading global water stewardship standards to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
3. REASSURE
Regular ratepayers shouldn’t pay the price for new infrastructure.
Rowan is committed to protecting existing utility customers from increased utility costs associated with new data center development. We have publicly signed the White House Ratepayer Protection Pledge, committing to work with utilities and policymakers to ensure data center growth does not shift infrastructure costs onto existing residential and business ratepayers. Existing customers will be protected while our new infrastructure strengthens the region’s energy and water future.
4. REINVEST
Every Rowan project will create tangible local benefits beyond jobs and tax revenue.
We will establish a local grant program that invests regularly in nonprofits, schools, workforce development, and initiatives that improve quality of life. We will seek meaningful community input before making major charitable investments to ensure our support reflects local priorities and create a long-term plan for investment. Our commitment extends well beyond construction, with sustained investments that help communities thrive for years to come. We want residents to point to specific programs, organizations, and lasting improvements made possible through Rowan’s partnership.
5. REDUCE
We will prioritize innovative solutions to ensure our data centers are built to high sustainability standards.
We will design facilities using industry-leading sustainable design and construction practices, pursue high-performance third-party building rating systems such as LEED and BREEAM certification, and reduce water use, waste, and embodied carbon throughout our projects. We will publish an annual sustainability report that transparently tracks our progress and holds ourselves accountable while continuously improving the environmental performance of every Rowan campus.
The Rowan Community Guarantee is our standard of accountability. The communities we are part of deserve more than promises. They deserve measurable commitments backed by action.
